Rare Maned Lionesses Explained

On the right is a female with a big bushy mane, from the Mombo area in the Okavango Delta. At the bottom right she is standing next to the male of the pride and you can see she is smaller with more feminine lines. Las welwitschias pertenecen a un orden de plantas gimnospermas denomidado Gnetales, Gnétidas o Gnetophytas, y son de particular importancia en el estudio de la evolución de las plantas, ya que al presentar características tanto de gimnospermas (semillas no recubiertas o encerradas por un ovario) como de angiospermas (vascularización de la madera, doble fertilización, estructuras parecidas a las flores), son consideradas el eslabón entre estas dos grandes clases de plantas con semilla o Espermatofitas.
